Issue 3 2026 Gear Highlights

Crispi Lapponia III

The feet like what they like, and for some reason it feels like these boots were custom made for mine. I didn’t give them a chance to have a break-in period, and I put about 50 miles on them right out of the box. No hot spots, no blisters, no sore feet. In fact, my feet had never felt better. You can read more about the specs of them on your own time, but if you’re looking for a lightweight (1 pound 5 ounces) and flexible boot with a heavy duty outsole made to handle extended miles and lots of filled tags, then the Lapponia III might be your answer.

Savior Equipment Specialist Rifle Case

This case is so slim that it disappears into the back of my rig like a dirty pair of socks from last weekend. It weighs about 30 lb less than my old hard case, so I no longer have to risk killing my 25-lb Australian Shepherd (or ruining someone's shins) when I lug it through the front door. It's not quite as protective as a hard case, but it's plenty padded, has some neat organization pockets, and, most importantly, makes me look like a competent shooter when I show up to the range. The best feature is very unusual for an Amazon product: A lifetime warranty.

T&K X-Tango Suppressor Cover

At a match early this year I was really happy with how well this cover eliminated heat waves coming into my view through the scope. Even with the wind, I was seeing some mirage after a solid string of fire. I loved the fit and found it easy to cinch it down snug so it wasn’t coming off with recoil. I loved being able to pull the cover back between stages to let the barrel and suppressor cool and slide it back over easily when it was go time. High-quality Made-in-America product, and you can feel it.

Duckworth Woolcloud Full-Zip Jacket

The warmth and fit of this jacket fight well above its weight class. The trick? Merino Wool batting that’s 100% made in America with Montana-raised wool. Most of my insulation jackets of this warmth are either as puffy as the Michelin man or get compressed so bad with moisture or over time that they hardly do the trick anymore. I’ve loved how easy this jacket is to layer with, and the size and weight make it truly hard to leave at home for any cold weather hunts or days on the range.

Yeti Pour Over

One sure way to ruin a morning hunt is with a bad cup of coffee. I’m an unapologetic coffee snob and I’ll gladly be the last guy out of camp if it means I get a solid cup of joe. Pour-over takes some effort, but nothing good in life comes easy. Reach for this Yeti Rambler Pour Over brewer instead of that instant sludge, and actually enjoy your morning cup.

Work Sharp Professional Precision Adjust™ Elite Knife Sharpener

There are few things that give me more joy than cutting into food with a freshly sharpened knife. This massive knife sharpener package might be overkill for a casual knife user like me, but it has everything I need to make sure every blade I own stays razor sharp. I don't have to be a master bladesmith to get jaw-dropping results. There are built-in angle indicators as well as a digital angle gauge that put you within a half degree of the desired slope. With those two tools it's nearly impossible to mess up a job. I've used it to sharpen my 12" chef down to my 3" foldable with incredible success.

Shoot2hunt - The Jellyfish

Sure, you can make a rear support out of almost anything, but why not have the perfect tool for the job without sacrificing any weight? The Jellyfish can be used in a variety of shooting positions and makes a real good pillow for a mid-day nap. The orange is nice for when your buddy is trying to find you while you move in for the final stages of a stalk, and it helps when you inevitably leave it behind after you make that shot you worked so hard to get.

JC custom Kydex - Short Action Mag Carrier

If you’re thinking about getting into NRL or PRS, skip the stage where you’re pulling your mags out of your pocket; it’s embarrassing. This mag holder helps save time during stages, but I can also see myself using it on a bino harness while hunting. The adjustable Kydex is the perfect solution for quick access to your magazines at all times.
