Benchmade Raghorn Knife Highlight
I am a knife guy. I still have the first “real” knife I ever owned, and I mourn the few that I have lost decades ago. I have owned and sold at least 100 firearms and probably 25 bows since the last knife I gave away. When I see a knife that I believe might be the perfect hunting knife, it has to be pretty dang special. When I handled the new Benchmade Raghorn knife at the SHOT Show last January, I knew I had a new hunting partner.
The steel is CPM-CruWear with a Rockwell hardness of 63-65. After a little research, I found out that CruWear is considered harder and more durable than D2 steel but easier to sharpen. The 4” blade is finished with orange Cerakote, so I won’t lose it while skinning and quartering. The 4” drop-point blade is backed up with a carbon fiber 4.9” handle which keeps the weight at a scant 3.56 ounces. The orange sheath tips the scale at only 1.06 ounces!
I am leaving on an elk hunt in a few days, so hopefully, I will have some experience processing a bull bigger than a raghorn, but I am sure the Raghorn will be up to the challenge.
