Gear Necessities: GIGA PUMP 2.0 Electric Portable Air Pump

When you’ve spent all day hiking your ass off, the last thing you want to do is spend 5-10 minutes blowing your precious air into your sleeping pad. Heaven forbid you want to try and get a fire going. By the time you’re ready to get into your bag, you’ll feel like you just left a Phish concert. The Giga Pump 2.0 portable electric air pump is the perfect solution.

These little Chinese-made pump fills your pad in just a couple of minutes and helps you get even the peskiest fires going. I have turned more heads in campsites than ever with this thing. As soon as it starts buzzing everyone wants to know what it is and what it does. Soon thereafter, they’re asking to borrow it. The battery life has been surprisingly good for its size. I’d say it’ll fill up your pad 10 times before you need to recharge it. It recharges via USB-C, so it doesn’t take more than an hour to charge to full.

If you’re looking to spend less time with your lips on your pad, grab a GIGA PUMP 2.0 Electric Portable Air Pump and don’t look back.

Brody Layher

Brody is not your typical Midwest transplant. He’s one of the most meticulous and well-researched backpack hunters on our staff. After a childhood consumed by whitetail and turkey hunting, Brody moved out west in pursuit of big game hunting opportunities and joined our team in 2019. Since then, he’s taken mule deer, coues deer, and elk with a bow, and he’s always planning his next adventure with a fervor that’s rare, even among our team. It’s no surprise that, given his last name, he’s obsessed with high-performance clothing systems. Brody was also a competitive bass fisherman and now lives in Scottsdale with his wife and his dog, Rocky.

Western Hunter Podcast | Ep 34 | Ryan Holm of Leica Sport Optics

Ryan Holm is the new Director of Marketing for Leica’s Sport Optics division. While Ryan is new to the high-performance optics industry, he is no stranger to the hunting market. I first met Ryan when he was in a similar position with the pack company, Mystery Ranch. I still give him major credit for building that brand into the category leader.

Take Care of Your Gear - Clean Your Optics

Working with the Outdoorsmans optics trade-in program for the past couple of years, I have seen high-end binoculars in every kind of shape imaginable. I loved cutting open a box to see a dusty pair of Swarovskis that had turned a whole new shade of green from some dude’s hand grease. I always knew those binos had some soul, they had probably seen some cool stuff, and there was plenty of life left in them.
