Hunting season is here! Well, if you’re going to the Yukon to hunt sheep, but for the rest of us, it’s not that far away. It’s the perfect time to take a look at what you either ran out of or broke last season and start replacing things before the real pre-season gear rush happens and everything you need goes out of stock.
Leukotape
I don’t think anything has saved more hunts than this skin-colored adhesive tape. I have no idea the science behind it, but it prevents blisters like nothing else. Nowadays, I even use it to pre-tape any spots that I think could get bad after a few long days. Don’t try to rip it off too early because it’ll take your skin off with it.
Save On Leukotape

This one might get you called a wimp by your friends, but they’re silly for not having one. Not having to inflate your pad with your breath after a long day has to be one of the best feelings. It can help you get a fire ripping in no time, too.
Wiha Allen Key Set
I used to go through Allen wrenches like it was my job. I bought a good set of Wiha Allens last year, and they cost just enough and work well enough that I take care of them instead of leaving them on every workbench I’m around.
Wilderness Athlete Hydrate and Recover
I don’t think anyone should be going about their day without some kinda of electrolyte mix, and I especially don’t think anyone should be out hunting without it. This is the best one available.
