An unintended consequence of aging is the development and refinement of a perspective and if we are lucky, perhaps a tidbit of wisdom. Claiming wisdom doesn’t come easy for me, as I feel like I’m humble enough to allow that compliment to come from others if they see it as a trait they choose to apply.

As I’ve gotten older, the way I prepare for hunts and travel has been much more about the organization aspect than ever before. The amount of gear that I have accrued over the years is a little overwhelming, and organizing that important gear for whatever hunt or adventure I’m going on is something that’s proven to be of immense value to me.

There are numerous things that will keep a hunter from getting good rest in the backcountry, but for me, the idea of an intruding grizzly bear is near the top of the list.
