The One Piece of Gear You Didn’t Even Know You Needed - KOR Technik VRS

Who knew that a bag of beads would be one of the most useful things I would own? Well, apparently KOR Technik did, and while their name definitely sounds complex, their product is one of the simplest, most effective, and versatile designs to come out of the hunting industry in a very long time.

TL;DR:

No more foam! It’s a vacuum-sealing sack of beads you can use to protect ANY valuable items in transit. Learn more here: Outdoorsmans.com

Got some time to read:

So, what exactly is this thing? To be honest, it’s pretty tough to describe the quality of this piece of gear well enough through words, but I’ll give it a shot. The KOR Vacuum Rigidized System (VRS) is meant to replace all of your existing foam cutouts in your rifle cases for the different rifles/valuables you have. You can now say goodbye to your flimsy and poorly traced foam cutouts with this simple and easy-to-store bag that’s designed to fit most commonly purchased rifle cases (SKB, Pelican, Condition 1, etc.). The KOR VRS is a bag filled with tens of thousands of micro-sized beads that you vacuum seal the air out of to form directly around ANY item you place onto the bag in two easy steps:

  1. First, place your items (starting with your largest/heaviest) on the bag and displace the beads around the object(s).
  2. Then, use the included pump to vacuum all the air out of the bag, which causes the beads to fully mold directly to the object(s), creating an extremely rigid and protective structure.

That’s it, and now you’re ready to go anywhere. Want to swap out your loadout? Use the included pump to put air back into the bag, change out the items you want to protect, and then vacuum the air back out. Now you’re ready to go again! The versatility this bag offers is unmatched, and since we all have different rifle builds, optic setups, camera/video gear, and other various sized items that are purpose-driven, you can use the same KOR VRS bag for ALL of it.

Do your kids have an instrument they need to take to a recital? Grab the KOR VRS bag. Don’t have a rifle case? Put a pair of expensive binoculars in the bag, fold it, then vacuum seal the air out, and now you have a little capsule of protection you can put into a duffel bag. This bag can really do it all. In fact, I was able to get rid of all my other rifle cases and foam cutouts that took up space in my garage. Now I only have one large rifle case (50x13x4) and one KOR VRS bag that can handle anything I own.

Myself and much of our team have been using the KOR VRS bag for over a year now and have had absolutely zero issues with it. It’s held up through every flight, hunt, adventure, and anything else I’ve thrown at it. One suggestion if you’re checking a rifle at the airport is to give yourself some extra time at TSA. They don’t have any issues with the bag, but there was certainly some confusion as to what this bag was and what was inside of it. After a test swab and a quick explanation about how that works, it was good to go every time, but just be a little patient as they haven’t seen a lot of stuff like this before.

The only “cons” I can even think of have been updated into their new Gen 2 models: a sleeker and more low-profile pump and nozzle, and a top KOR VRS panel that’s now included as well. I can’t recommend this product enough and truly believe everyone who tries it won’t ever go back to foam again.

You can learn more about it, see how it works, and buy the KOR Technik VRS for yourself at Outdoorsmans.com.
