Eberlestock Modframe

Eberlestock has been a staple in the hunting and military spaces for decades, and for good reason. Their high-quality, purpose-driven designs have been a common dominator in countless successful pack-outs and military/LE operations. So, why do people all over the world trust Eberlestock when it matters most? Well, there are several reasons, but a big one is that they are constantly innovating and striving for improvement, and never cut corners on quality. In fact, I still have my first Eberlestock pack from 12 years ago, and it’s still got plenty of years of use in it. They are undoubtedly built to take on anything you throw at them.

Their newest pack, the Modframe, is no exception. Their team spent three years developing and testing this new design with a lot of successful pack-outs. While their tried and true Mainframe set the bar, the new Modframe takes it further. It’s stronger in build, smarter in design, and it’s the next evolution of Eberlestock.

They took everything you liked about the Mainframe and made it better with the Modframe. It has over 50% more padding in the shoulders and hips, plus a silicone-grip lumbar pad that locks it in place. With unlimited torso adjustment and load lifters, it’s a custom fit to any body type and puts the weight right where it belongs–on your hips. With the forward-pull hip belt and rear micro-adjusters, you can dial in a perfect fit on the move.

When it’s time to haul, the Modframe replaces the L-shaped shelf with a sleek, low-profile load panel. Dual straps and compression buckles keep meat or gear tight and stable, while a mesh channel adds airflow on the hike out. At just 4 pounds 8 ounces, it’s lightweight but punches way above its weight class. In fact, they posted a video on their YouTube page testing the weight limits of it, and it held over 1,000 pounds, way more than any of us could ever carry. It’s made of aircraft-grade aluminum and polycarbonate backed with 1000D/500D ripstop nylon, meaning it’s built for years of hard use. If you’re familiar with Eberlestock’s products, you know they will last forever.

And the best part? As the name suggests: modularity. The Modframe was designed to work with all EMOD packs and accessories. So, you can quickly throw on the Brooks 3500 for multi-day hunts and longer adventures, swap to Batwings for a minimalist setup, or attach a Bolt-Action Scabbard to carry your rifle. Quick-Attach buckles and MOLLE webbing let you customize it all to your hunt and your style.

Overall, I’ve been extremely happy with mine and its performance in the field. In fact, our team went on a Coues deer hunt this Fall in Southern Arizona, and we filled four tags, putting the Modframe to work. The comfort, capability, and modularity that it provided will certainly have me reaching for this pack for the foreseeable future. To learn more about it, you can visit Eberlestock.com.

Pedram Parvin

Pedram is a self-described “gear nerd.” Although he often jokes about being a “diversity hire” or “foreign exchange student,” he’s easily the most American person you’ll ever meet. His goal is to take the experiences he’s had in the outdoors and make them translate to our readers along with his family, including his young son. “Ped” as he’s affectionately known, is obsessed with gear, but he’s also extremely passionate about the people behind the companies that make it. Many of Pedram’s articles go beyond the standard gear review model and into the stories and lifestyles of the folks who created the products and what those stories mean to us as consumers. Between his experience in education, knowledge of the outdoors and the hunting industry, and the friendliest writing voice we’ve ever read, you’ll never be disappointed reading something Pedram wrote.
